By Loving Earth
Many people feel they have given so much and receive little or nothing in return. This principle of “ the more you give, the more you receive” does not work for them. If you are on the same boat, evaluate your situation, re arrange your mind’s thought patterns and refocus on your spiritual principles.
Giving is a natural outflow of inner fulfilment and abundance. If the state of fulfilment and abundance is the flower, then giving is the fragrance. But often, “giving” is used as a mean to satisfy your ego.
Many people give out of the need to be loved, to be accepted by the society, by their conscience, by fear of being rejected , or the need to feel important and superior. The problem with this type of giving is that it is not authentic, it is not the joy of the heart and so it can not be fulfilling in its very nature.
You are giving in exchange of some kind of recognition or acceptance and often, when you don’t get anything back, you become resentful and disheartened and then feel that Life is not fair to you .
This very condition is what stops the spirit of unconditional giving coming back to you. When your giving has a hidden agenda, you take yourself out of the full circular flow of life’s true abundance.
Remember, when your cup is empty, strive to fill that cup first. When your tree is weak , strive to grow into a strong one first. This is your first and most crucial task before you can do anything else. When you give out of an empty cup, you will soon dry out. When you offer your weak trunk for people to lean on, you will soon fall down. Giving out of the state of need will never fulfill your heart’s desire to be loved. Your heart’s desire to be loved can only be fulfilled in the divine process of fulfilling your soul’s purpose- —-to realise, know and experience God in this incarnation. This realization is not something we will get to in a distant future, but is reached by the very process we called “ spiritual growth and inner development” within each one of us right here, right Now.
